pangolin day!
No, it is, really! See -Click here to see the whole calendar for the month of December. Current and former Seattlites may remember the free monthly calendars at Archie McPhee. They were done by the very talented Kipling West. (Check out her site, it's great! She's even got a bunch of softie monsters in the "Spooky" section). I found a link to this site quite serendipitously, and discovered that Kipling made a new calendar for this month. Yippee! My pangolin was made from a modified armadillo pattern in this book. A few interesting facts in honor of the day: some pangolins are arboreal (mine is), they spray noxious fumes like a skunk, and are members of the ferret family. Here's the best picture I found when doing my research. Have a good one!

wow, amazing pangolin! I've never seen one before- great image :-)

What an amazing animal. I've never seen one before. Thank goodness for Pangolin Day or I might never have, either. You've made a really great rendition of one. Looks like a pine cone Christmas decoration until you take a second look.
Wish I'd known about those calendars in my Seattle days.

Pangolins are not members of the ferret family; they have their own family, Manidae. They also have their own order, Pholidota, whereas ferrets are in order Carnivora, family Mustilidae. Nicely shot, however.
