feelings...

Frustration_1

Frustration. You know you have a problem when just three days without the internet leaves you climbing the walls. After going around the world with Earthlink (one evening, I spoke to nice people in the Philippines, India, and northern Africa all in one phone call) - they traced it to my faulty modem. So now I'm using (gulp) dial-up until my new high speed modem arrives. If that weren't enough, my Olympic knitting is not going well. I've started the dang thing over three times now! (Artwork by the wonderfully goofy Glen Baxter, with minor embellishment by me.)

Aggravation_1
Aggravation. I misplaced some documents that had both my checking account and social security numbers on them. I had to close my checking account and reopen a new one. I had almost every bill I pay linked to that account, and no internet to change my info. (Artwork by the legendary Maurice Sendak.)

Pain

Pain. I pulled a hamstring a couple of weeks ago, and thought it had healed. I found out I was very, very wrong when running for a bus the other night. Now I think I've got a full-on tear, and am hobbling about on one and a half legs. I hope whatever Olympic knitting judges who may be watching realize that knitting lace with your leg propped up with an ice pack adds greatly to the degree of difficulty! (Artwork - slightly modified - by animator and brother extraordinaire Craig McCracken.)

Yeesh - what a week! Still, there was one bright spot:

Valentines_3

Delight. Arriving very appropriately on Valentine's Day was this wonderful package from Amy's ATC swap. They are all truly beautiful!! Thanks so much Amy for putting this together! (Artwork by -from left - Mimi Kirchner - yay!, Elizabeth Meredith, Vesna Radivojevic, Katherine Bolinger, and Lain Ehmann).

I've got lots of stuff I'm working on, so I'll be back next week (hopefully) up to speed!

Well, I'm sending you nothing but good thoughts. We had a problematic week ourselves, full of sniggly little aggrevations; I'm still blaming it on that full moon earlier in the week.

Anyway your illo adaptations were quite apt and enjoyable. Hope it all gets better soon. :)

Gosh you really have had a hard time but those ATCs are lovely - I wonder when mine will arrive... you were very lucky with the timing on those!

Oh, what a week you've had! Hope the winds turn soon. I'm happy to see where another of my atc's have turned up- I've been so curious!

OH man. Technical problems suck. And yes. I am the annoying person that can't read emails from you.

so sorry to hear about all this yuckiness! here's to a better weekend and a super-fast new modem!

I'm really sorry to hear about the crappy week you've had. Bummer! Maybe you've gotten it out of your system and it's all going to turn around now? Here's hoping!

Krista -You aren't annoying at all - but your email troubles must be for you! The last one I sent I tried to be tricky with the address, I guess it didn't work :/

How can anyone STAY grumpy with Alligators All Around... especially if one has the C. King sound track in their head.
Chocolate helps. A LOT.
Socks aren't that much easier than lace.
Sorry about that hamstring. I tend not to get much exercise at all, so your remark about the preggers Skeleton rider made complete sense to me. When I was pregnant (sometime in the dark ages), I could probably have slid on my belly, but NOT on a skeleton.

Hope the dial up doesn't make you crazy... and that things get better over the weekend. Stay warm!!

Owie! Best wishes on the leg! (You can pretend you're a champion figure skater who's just down for the count?)

I am also a knitting restarter: I have to cast on almost everything I do at least three times. It has only just occurred to me, knitting for more than 5 years, that I really need to use a stretchier cast-on for socks.

I really like the playing-card themed ATC, but it might be because it's the most like something I would also do (I like: staining and burning the edges of red cards, using the color with black/white/gold accents, that kind of thing). All the ATCs have something charming about them: I keep ducking down the line saying, "THAT one is my fave! No... THAT one! No, wait, THAT one!" :D

Oh, man, what a week you've had! All the best for a quick & complete healing of your hamstring! I like the illustrations for your feelings, v. funny! The ATCs are simply gorgeous.

Oooooh, you got one of those Mimi ATC's? Lucky you! Pain should subside within hours of receipt of that coolio card.
