past projects: an FUFO

That is, a forever unfinished object.

Book_s

When I was cleaning out the basement this weekend, I came upon the sad remains of my most ambitious project ever:  an embroidered alphabet book of imaginary beings, started back in the 80's when I just got out of college. These two pages are all that is left.

I think I know what most of the things are, but I'll let you all have the fun of working it out on your own.  When I moved from my temporary digs in LA to Seattle, I foolishly mailed several large boxes that didn't fit into my car. One of them was lost, and the bulk of this project was in it. I don't remember how these two were spared. I know that the "Q" and "R" were finished, and the "K" was in progress. After that, I didn't have the heart to finish it, and I'm close to sure I never will. So there you have it - a cautionary tale about trusting the US Postal Service.

oh my!! these just take my breath away! and i'm so so so sad for you that the others were lost.

That is a heartbreaking tale. I'm glad you still had these two to share with us! They are gorgeous!

Oh that's awful, they are stunning, I am sorry the darn Post Office lost them.

Oh, that is so terrible - such a loss. I'm glad you showed us the two remaining, though, they're beautiful.

Wow! The two that you have left are incredible. It's heartbreaking that the others were lost.

After reading this, I too have to comment. What a sad story. The remaining letters are beautiful~! Sad reminder, that we all probably have a forever unfinished project.

They are beautiful.
Do a 'U' and then you will have the word SUN.
They should be in a frame for sure.

holy cow! That makes me tired just looking at it. I gave up on a knit blanket of Letter squares at about 'N'.

These are really amazing Rose. I mean...really...beautiful...

"US"- maybe??? I mean, come on, these are definitely frame worthy, you have to.

Sorry, I made no sense in that last comment with the "US", please see Lyn's comment for clarification. I've been up since 4.
