Onesmallshrine

Or One Small Shrine, as the swap is called in English. Lots of stuff in this little box pertaining to the person I made it for, but I'll just post about the knitting skeleton. It's shrinky dink, and it was hard! Actually, the arms came out fine the first try, but the main body of the skeleton would not uncurl like it was supposed to, and I ended up with many rolls of hard plastic. I finally ending up donning heat resistant gloves and flattening it out while it was still in the oven. I know that's not right! I did a couple of web searches, but it wasn't much help. Most of them said not to start with a piece that was too big, so maybe that was it, but it wasn't that big. Has anyone else had this problem? I've got a few more shrinky dink things I want to make, and don't want to go through this again.

Amazing! I love the idea of making a shrine in a tiny tin: a portable tiny shrine. I think I will make one for myself.

As far as your shrinky dink problems ... the image of you in heat resistant gloves unrolling a molten shrinky dink is very funny. Like an industrial steel worker engineering a tiny cartoon skeleton. But all the fun stops when someone melts off a finger. :)

I love your pocket shrine. Such an private bit of worship :-)

I find the shrink plastic never works as smoothly for me as I wish it would. I've never had a problem with not uncurling though- they just never get as flat as I'd like. But then I've been doing small charms. I've started using my heat gun instead of the oven- I've had more success with the flatness issues- but it can be a problem keeping them from blowing away! Good luck! I'll come back and see if anyone has the answer.

I just can't tell you just how much I love your little shrine, I visit the picture almost every day because it is just lovely. But then I grew up in south america where this sort of thing is a part of life of sorts (though a bit different from central america)... anyway, I love it!

sorry about that!

This is wonderful.
: )

Awesome. You know I have a penchant for skeletons. And one that is knitting? Well, it just doesn't get much better than that!
