more cards, more experimentation

Bird_atcs

Kristin is hosting a bird-themed ATC swap. I decided that I really wanted my cards to look like old trading cards, so anything 3-D was out. I found some cute bird drawings I had saved from an old Martha Stewart magazine, copied some of them, printed them on watercolor paper and "painted" them with watercolor pencils. I scanned fabric for the background and pasted the birds on top in Photoshop. I then printed it out on 50% hemp/50% straw paper that has a heavy newsprint-like texture. It did some smooshy things to the colors, and they actually do look old! I hope the folks who receive them like them.

Cool! I didn't know you signed up for that swap, too. There's some good company: Mimi K., Stephanie S., and, now, you. :) Unfortunately we won't get something from everybody. Mine are almost done. I did little paintings--It's taking forever.

these are adorable Rose. So many!

Those look really great! I wish I could see those in person.

Rose, these are wonderful! Where did you find the hemp/straw paper? I'm intrigued.

They are beautiful. I love that you pinned them up in a tree for the photo. I love the bits that go out of the image-box area into the frame-area of the card (could I explain that in a more awkward way?). It's too bad there isn't more detail in the picture, because I'm sure they are all amazing.

Those cards are gorgeous! I love seeing them all together like that!

oh, this is getting mighty exciting... for my first ever atc swap i got a chance at some beautiful card in return... yours are wonderful and i am heading back over to flicker to eyeball them a bit closer....

These are stunning Rose. Truly.

Hello I've just discovered your blog!
I love it! your creations make me think of a dream!

Beautiful cards! They turned out great.

I received the red gingham card in the swap and it's so fun to read this and see where they came from! It has a vintage look that I love - thank you so much!
